I contacted Duane last winter. He had a quote put together in a few days. I was not ready for the project until April of this year so, we planned around that to include the ordering of the material so it would be fresh. He did an amazing job with my 54 foot pergola. He is honest and does not take advantage of his customers. A lot of my neighbors have asked me for his number to do work at their houses. As a professional commercial constructor, I am very particular about every phase of a project from concept through completion. My wife and I researched several deck options to replace our 35-year-old redwood deck and found Timbertech to be the best product for our long-term needs. We reached out to the Timbertech to get reference for local contractors and the first name on the list was Duane Householder of Householder Construction. We met with Duane and I expressed my concerns and requirements for a "bounce-free" deck and the specific way we wanted the decking to run to optimize the material usage and look. Duane provided a structural design that I liked for our 700 SF outdoor living area. We got other bids from the list of recommended Builders, but Duane's quote was the best that checked all our boxes. We scheduled the work and watched Duane and crew carefully layout and build the structure and lay down the decking in an efficient and timely manner for the price that was quoted.  We were blessed to have Duane Householder plan and execute an addition/remodel of our home. For years we anticipated needing to add onto our home to accommodate our growing family and lifestyle and decided to have Duane help us with some floor plan ideas we had and put together a budget for us. From the onset he gave us a rough idea of how much we should expect which really helped us determine whether we could jump on this project immediately or not. He then had our plan engineered so he could give us a better construction budget broken down into construction categories. For this project we remodeled our kitchen completely and added on about 800 square feet that included a new dining room, family room, bedroom, and two bathrooms including a master bath. Being a large project it took several months but we were amazed after hearing so many horror stories about construction delays in our current economic environment that we didn’t really see such delays and in fact there were times that Duane’s excellent planning and foresight enabled us to get things done earlier than expected! Like the time his siding subcontractor couldn’t complete another person’s project they had scheduled before ours because material wasn’t there but Duane had our material delivered early so they were able to come complete ours that day. Even some unforeseen circumstances didn’t hinder our timeline much, Duane quickly recalibrated and made the adjustments needed while communicating with us all the time so we knew where exactly we were on things. He was also just as persistent with our subcontractors. He let us select an HVAC subcontractor we knew well and that friend has continued doing work with Duane which is a testament that Duane is the kind of contractor folks want to work with and that’ll benefit you in your project. Beyond being timely and experienced in the construction trade, he’s also just a really good guy and we greatly enjoyed working with him on this project. We consider him part of the family now and will forever be grateful for the beautiful home he helped us create for our family.

We communicated everyday about the project and he kept us informed of progress, changes, costs, and the schedule at all times. He was incredibly honest and was flexible to our needs. He staffs nice, clean, and respectable subcontractors who were mindful about our children and desire to remain in the home during construction. Duane did an excellent job on my home projects and exceeded my expectations. He created custom trellises, cabinetry, bookcase, and staircase finish carpentry (quite the mix of jobs!). Duane is very personable and honest and his bids were clear and fairly priced. His communication skills are also great (so important and yet so rare in construction!). Duane promptly responded to all of my questions and he and his crew were punctual and efficient. I was very impressed with the men who worked for him as well. They were respectful, tidy, polite, and there was absolutely no swearing or questionable behavior while they were in my home. I hope to work with Duane again and will recommend Householder Construction to my friends.
